2019 CONFERENCE

CALL FOR SESSION/WORKSHOP PROPOSALS

DEADLINE: JULY 30!!!

Our theme for the 2019 conference: Integrating Technology and Tradition.

As modern classrooms rush to go digital, we must take care not to throw out the baby with the bathwater.  By combining new technologies with traditional resources, teachers may help students attain ever-greater levels of comprehension and achievement along with the skills and dispositions to take action in their schools, communities and beyond.  Let’s help educators be the best facilitators of knowledge gathering and analysis, guiding students to recognize and create effective arguments and to discern valid and accurate information, whether from an online source or from a paper publication.  Integrating such approaches with the new H-SS framework, Common Core, and 21st-century teaching methods advances true and lasting innovation in California classrooms.

The shifts in instructional practices outlined in the new California History-Social Science Framework (content, literacy, inquiry and citizenship) provide an opportunity for CCSS to leverage its reputation for providing participants with quality, in-depth, innovative professional development.

CCSS is seeking proposals that engage participants in topics related to quality History-Social Science education and support the vision of the documents that guide instruction in California schools:

    • The California History-Social Science Standards
    • The California History-Social Science Framework
    • The California Common Core State Standards
    • The California ELA/ELD Framework

We invite you to join us in this effort by presenting to your professional colleagues at the 2019 conference!
