PROPOSAL SUBMISSION PROCESS:

ENDED ON JULY 29!!!

CCSS's organizational mission emphasizes the need for all students to have access to a well-rounded education that includes the social sciences, humanities, arts, sciences and mathematics. The 2018 conference theme aims to expand across traditional boundaries, both in concept and pedagogy. The three main elements of that theme are:

  • Building Communities: A well-rounded education integrates study of multiple disciplines, and focuses on ideas that address the importance of community in a well-functioning society.
  • Collaboration: Students benefit when teachers collaborate on planning and delivery of instruction.
  • Civil discourse: Current times mandate a focus on the role and the importance of civil discourse in society. It is possible to share different opinions and to disagree without being disagreeable.
The shifts in instructional practices outlines in the new California History-Social Science Framework (content, literacy, inquiry and citizenship) provide an opportunity for CCSS to leverage its reputation for providing participants with quality, in-depth, innovative professional development.

CCSS is seeking proposals that engage participants in topics related to quality History-Social Science education and support the vision of the documents that guide instruction in California schools:

  • The California History-Social Science Standards
  • The California History-Social Science Framework
  • The California Common Core State Standards
  • The California ELA/ELD Framework
We invite you to join us in this effort by presenting to your professional colleagues at the 2018 conference!
